- Empty the car: The collections person will almost never return valuable items from the inside of a debtor's car during a vehicle repossession. Make sure the car is empty of valuables so that you don't have to fight for their return later.
- Get a receipt if they have repossessed the car: It is always important to keep good records of what happens throughout the process.
- Call an attorney immediately: No matter where you are in the process, a lawyer can help protect you from repossession, or at the very least help make the process safer and more civilized for you and your family. We can work with the creditor to arrange for you to return the car at your convenience rather than having someone repossess it from your home or place of employment.
Time is of the Essence
